The iconic Guitar Hotel is the main attraction at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida. Nonetheless, the property’s status for hosting some of the loosest slots in the Sunshine State keeps growing. 

The integrated resort casino inspired by rock 'n' roll is situated north of Miami and south of Fort Lauderdale. The property is managed and owned by Hard Rock International, completely owned by the Seminole Tribe of Florida. 

This week, Hard Rock announced that its Hollywood casino has paid out over $1 billion in jackpots for the fourth year in a row. The landmark in 2024 was overshadowed on June 12 when an Ohio Hard Rock Unity X-Card loyalty member won a nearly $6K jackpot on Buffalo Link.

"For the fourth consecutive year, we have awarded more than $1 billion in jackpots,” said Bo Guidry, president of Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Hollywood. “We are dedicated to providing exceptional guest experiences and ensuring that each visit to Seminole Hard Rock Hollywood is truly unforgettable.”

Since 2021, Hard Rock Hollywood has distributed over $6 billion in jackpots from slot machines. 

Jackpot Every 47 Seconds 

In a press release regarding the significant achievement of at least $1 billion in jackpots being awarded for the fourth consecutive year, Hard Rock disclosed that most of the jackpots have been comparatively modest wins. 

The casino reported that to achieve the $1 billion milestone this year, there were 346,492 jackpots awarded, with an average payout of $3,340.99. The biggest so far this year was a $1.4 million strike in April. 

The casino describes a jackpot as any victory that requires a slot attendant to dispense the winnings and provide the fortunate player with a W-2G IRS tax form. The IRS tax limit stays at $1,200, although there have been recent demands for the US Treasury to raise its jackpot trigger. 

Hard Rock reported that a jackpot has been won on its Hollywood casino floor every 47 seconds in 2024. The Hollywood casino covers 150,000 square feet and features 2,500 slot machines, almost 200 live dealer table games, and a Hard Rock Bet Sportsbook. 

The latest features of the casino consist of 10 craps and 20 roulette tables, enabled by the tribe's updated gaming agreement made with Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R) in 2021. 

Hard Rock Arriving in Las Vegas 

In 2019, Hard Rock inaugurated the world’s first Guitar Hotel as part of a $1.5 billion increase to the Hollywood resort. The firm is now beginning a second Guitar Hotel in Las Vegas. 

This week, Hard Rock shut down The Mirage on the Las Vegas Strip to start a complete overhaul of the resort into a rock ‘n’ roll-themed destination similar to Hard Rock Hollywood. 

The Mirage’s Volcano has vanished, and a similarly-sized Guitar Hotel is on its way. Approximately 3,000 Mirage employees were laid off this week, but Hard Rock is distributing around $80 million in severance packages. 

Hard Rock Hotel & Casino and Guitar Hotel Las Vegas, the name of the property, is expected to launch in the spring of 2027.
